The Benefit Of The Tesco Oakham Downturn, Especially For Those who can't drive to Asda Corby

The Benefit Of The Tesco Oakham Downturn, Especially For Those who can't  drive to Asda Corby

There is a lot of discussion about Tesco and its profits, It said it was not a good Christmas for them.

They claim its due to the public not spending so much.

I noticed at Christmas our Oakham Store was not busy, plenty of stock was available and much of it overpriced. The store  had to resort to reducing drastically many prices, one example was the mountains of Pate, much smaller packets than previous years priced around £5 and reduced to around 60p.It my personal belief customers are no longer falling for the high priced Finest brand.

Many locals say they prefer to drive to Asda Corby these days for a better deal.

I wonder if Tesco management is taking notice. I don't think they are. On TV one of their bosses said they got it wrong, highlighting the main issue as the Club Card cuts, no change there, I received my statement this week it included exchange deals all not relevant to me and not one coupon for any deal in-store.

Whatever time I visit our local store, I no longer find it busy. I wonder if Tesco will go ahead with its planned expansion.

Of course the apparent mass desertion to Asda Corby by those who drive, has its benefits for those who have no choice to shop at Tesco. We do have a Co-op but you only have to price compare to see why Tesco is the only place to shop in Oakham. unless you can afford to add wine to your shopping list,

If you pick the correct time in the evening you can fill your freezer for less than £10 at Tesco that must effect profits.

I found in one visit this week everything from premium bread, Tesco Finest Steak and other Organic Meats all reduced to 10p and to brighten my home a £10 bunch of flowers reduced to 10p. Saving £9.90

The were dozens of pots of cream, It made me think, I wonder what the current food wastage statistics are for our local supermarkets are? Because a large amount finds its way to the skips.

I think Tesco some times thinks its customers are stupid, one example is the Lynx Deodorant promotion and there are many other examples instore. The price has steadily risen and Tesco now claim it a good deal to pay £5 for two. When Wilko is only £4 and a local corner shop is also cheaper.

The Co-op is a shoppers  paradise often empty of customers, of an evening you can find many reductions, the fresh bakery is my favourite for reductions also starting from 10p there.

I just took a few items out of my freezer to photograph a total cost of 80p from Tesco Friday
Full Tesco Retail Value before reduction £13.79 a super saving of £12.99
