Leicestershire Constabulary Council Tax Survey

	In common with other public sector agencies Leicestershire Police has been asked to make substantial savings over the next few years.  It is inevitable that these savings will see a reduction in the number of people working for Leicestershire Police. You may be aware that Leicestershire Police is partly funded through a separate element within your council tax bill. Currently there are 3 options being considered by Leicestershire Police Authority for the funding year 2012/13. All 3 options will potentially impact on the level of policing in your area. These options will be in support and add to the savings already made over the last 2 years, which is in the region of £22 million pounds. These reductions in staff numbers will be made from a mixture of frontline services, back office functions and management positions. Considering this information, which option would you like the Police Authority to take forward? (All figures are based on band D council tax) 1. 0% increase in your council tax, which potentially equates to the loss of 355 jobs by 2015. 2.5% increase, meaning that your council tax contributions towards policing will increase by £4.24 per year (8p per week).  This potentially equates to the loss of 181 jobs by 2015.                                                                     3.75% increase, meaning that your council tax contributions towards policing will increase by £6.36 per year (12p per week).  This potentially equates to the loss of 111 jobs by 2015.
