Rutland Youth Awards
Time is running out to submit nominations for the 2012 Rutland Young People Awards.
The closing date is Friday 2 March with an awards ceremony taking place next month (Wednesday 28 March) at the Rutland County Council offices.
Nominations can be made for any young person aged 11+ who attends secondary school in Rutland, or lives in Rutland and goes to school elsewhere.
Councillor Gene Plews is the Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Youth. He says: “These events are a fantastic opportunity to recognise the important contribution that our young people make to the society that we live in. Their hard work and dedication in many areas is often overlooked and this is a chance to celebrate everything that they do for the local community”.
Gene Plews added: “Nominations must be submitted by the end of the week and there are posters in lots of places letting you know how to enter. Alternatively visit either the Raw4Youth website (http://www.raw4youth.com/)”.
Any young person can be nominated by other young people, their school, or a parent/carer. A panel of judges, which will include members of the Rutland Youth Council, will consider all of the nominations before narrowing down to a shortlist of two.
All nominees will be invited to attend the Rutland Young People’s Award Event on Wednesday 28 March 2012 at the Rutland County Council offices.
The awards recognise and reward young people throughout Rutland who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in three categories:
- Benefitting the community
- Overcoming adversity
- Participation
The awards are organised by Rutland Youth Service (Rutland County Council), Rutland Youth Service, Leicestershire Police, and the Safer Rutland Partnership.
