Conservative Rutland County Councillors calls for you to take the 'pound-a-day' challenge
Rutland County Councillor is asking you to do just that.
Christine Emmett is attempting the challenge for a week in May.
It's to raise money and awareness for people living below the poverty line across the world.
I have met the above Councillor she comes across as a nice person. A former Marks & Spencers
employee, who still models their wardrobe.
I find this type of stunt conducted by councillors and other politicians patronising, how can one week of living on basic rations give anyone an understanding of the poor through out the world.
On the local news she said she has done this before and described with some excitement how she found a battered tin of tomatoes in Tesco for less than 20p. All I can say is she deprived a customer who may have needed that tin. If you visit Tesco of an evening, the store is often frequented by people who wait for items to be reduced because they are on low incomes.
Leicester has expanded its free food distribution services this year.
Maybe Christine could think about becoming an MP, I believe one expressed the difficulties of living on parliamentary rations some time ago.
