Cllr Charles Haworth wants £8000 of Tax Payers money for Street Party 2013
Oakham Town Council put on a "Street Party" that was really a party in the park for the Diamond
Jubilee.
He is so pleased with his work he now wants to repeat this next summer and is asking Oakham Town Council for £8000.
You would think, he would ask for less as there is no purpose for this event accept another excuse for the town council to squander the tax payers hard earned money. He won't need to purchase mugs and other gifts for Cllr Lucas to hand out to her friends after the event...
The Jubilee party went over budget. Cllr Haworth lied in meetings about the extent of the sponsorship.
This time he says he is unlikely to gain any corporate sponsorship. I think that should tell him something
if big business is not willing to sponsor his knees up in the park, why should the Oakham Tax Payer be expected to do so?
For the Jubilee event the council gave him a blank check, I hope this time they don't. If he is determined to put on a event in 2013 he should apply for a grant in April and provide a proper application and business plan.
He also said he is consulting with the festival organiser, that does not surprise me any smell of cash and they come running.
Even when Cllr Haworth once described one part of their previous event as total rubbish at a meeting.
I spoke to many performers at this years festival, I was interested in those who told me they don't get paid to perform.
It is very hard to find out where the tax payers money is spent after the application is taken by their "darling Richard" and approved by the Council with little or no questions asked.
Cllr Haworth will be asking for the money at this Wednesdays meeting
He will also be asking for a further £2768.00 to spend on tables & OTC Branded Gazebos. flags and banners.
