Street Child World Cup anthem from Hospital Records has launched!
"I am Somebody" Street Child World Cup
Street Child World Cup partners Hospital Records have produced the anthem
with their artists London Elektricity, Diane Charlemagne and S.P.Y.
The wonderful choir on the track are pupils from Brixton’s Corpus Christy School.
When Street Child World Cup supporter and drum & bass fan Laura Youngson
approached her heroes at Hospital Records to record a track for the
Street Child World Cup, founder Tony Colman (London Elektricity)
was only too happy to oblige.
“I was so excited to be asked to work on the SCWC 2014 theme.
I knew the track had to be summery and also I felt it had to have school children.
I wrote the chorus walking home from Hospital Records on the south circular road.
The amazing Corpus Christi school choir (from Brixton) were a pure delight,
and Diane Charlemagne (from Tulse Hill) smashed the verses.
Add to that the amazing S.P.Y co writing and producing, and we have ended up
with a proper South East London tune to be proud of. I haven't had so much
fun in the studio in years.”
Joe Hewitt from the Street Child World Cup: “Hospital Records are taking the
Street Child World Cup to a whole new audience. They took the time to listen
to the voices of street children and produce this anthem for their rights. We can’t stop whistling it!”
Full release will be ahead of the tournament in March 2014 but the anthem
will be used by the teams participating and throughout schools to raise awareness
across the world.
