Oakham Christmas Lights 2013

Oakham Christmas Lights 2013

Sub-contractors has started to put up the towns Christmas lights, £16,000 was
spent last year!

These lights were new last year, the sub-contractors are reusing the support wires
and fixings to hang icicle lights rather than these LED bulbs.

Oakham Town Council is spending over £20,000 this year.

The sub-contractors say the light strings will be hung in the same places as
they were last year, so once again its not going to look very special.

This was Melton Road last year, I guess it will look little more impressive
with a string of icicle LED's.

I doubt if Oakham will be featuring on the Lite web site any time in the near future.

I heard the sub-contractors complaining about how much they are getting paid
for this job. It is quite shocking when you know the town council is
paying the main contractor so much.

The sub-contractor is not even receiving 10% of the entire sum the council is paying.

Also considerably less than the man from Melton who destroyed some of the old
popular lights, he was paid £10,000 a year to put up and take down the lights.

The Town Council has recently stopped its flower contractor sub-contracting
is its not time they did the same for the Christmas Lights?

The market place will remain the same this year. I still don't understand
how Stamford managed to get so much more for the same money
from the same company.

Oakham High Street 2012

The Town Council has spent additional money on a tree to be placed
on the canopy of Victoria Hall saving their landlord the cost and
they have purchased some additional lights on some lamp posts
