Appeal for witnesses after serious collision on the A6003 in Oakham

Officers from the East Midlands Serious Collision Investigation unit are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision in Oakham.
The collision occurred at about 11.26am on Friday December 6 on the A6003, Burley Park Way, at the junction with Uppingham Road, Oakham and involved two vehicles, a blue Ford Mondeo and white DAF light goods vehicle.
The driver, a man, and passenger, a woman, in the Ford Mondeo received serious injuries and were both taken to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire where their condition has been described as critical but stable.
The driver of the LGV, a man, was also injured and was treated at the Queen’s Medical Centre, he has since been discharged.
Detective Constable Paul Bingham is investigating the collision, he said: “The Ford was at the T-junction waiting to turn right onto the A6003 and the LGV was travelling along the A6003 towards Oakham when the collision occurred.
“We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand to contact us. If you haven’t already spoken with the police and believe you may have been in the area at the time of the collision please get in touch.”
