Oakham Town Council Freedom of Entry
Another year and Oakham Town Council is set to waste taxpayers money marching soldiers
through our town.
The old guard continues to spend money on outdated ceremony, if there is a complete
change after the election maybe we can cancel it.
Oakham Town Council wishing to please former Mayor and his chums want to grant the
Freedom of Entry to another regiment that has little or no connection to the town.
The man in charge of the regiment wrote a begging letter to the Town Council.
Is it not normal to wait to be asked if you want to accept an honour and not ask for one.
I wonder if he wrote to his own town council Uppingham, if he did I can only guess the
might have told him to get lost.
It's a shame the former Mayor and his mates were not given some tin soldiers for Christmas.
If they do want they want the Freedom of Oakham then they should pay for it not the tax payer.
