Oakham Mayor Is he showing his disapproval by not attending the upcoming Freedom of Entry?

Oakham Mayor Is he show his disapproval by not attending the upcoming Freedom of Entry?

I think so.

When the matter of the freedom of entry was first raised at a council meeting shortly
after the last freedom of entry was granted to a RAF auxiliary squadron, he said he did
not want anything to do with the arrangements.

The Squadron which Oakham Town council is to bestow the Freedom of Entry upon next week wrote and asked for the freedom, which I think is appalling.

The squadron has little connection to Oakham if any, The deputy Mayor Adam Lowe
research and found a very ancient connection.

This freedom of entry is being bestowed to please a former Mayor Paul Beech who spoke at the Town meeting to express his pleasure, because he was born in the area the squadron is based in.

What I can not understand is why Oakham tax payers continue to allow Oakham Town Council
to squander their money on such pointless activities.

After the event there is a private reception in the Museum of invited guests. I am not sure of the
full cost to the tax payer yet, I have seen Oakham Town Council has paid Rutland County Council
£150 for the use of the museum.

My invite says I can take a guest, so I was wondering if there is a hard working Oakham tax payer who would like to attend and benefit from what they have paid for?
