Ex Mayor Paul Beech's Public Deputation about the review and my proposal for the 2014 -2015 re audit of accounts.

Ex Mayor Paul Beech's Public Deputation about the review and my proposal for the
2014 -2015 re audit of accounts.

He says I am advocating a waste of public by asking for an audit
of the council's 2014 accounts.

He refers to Streets very costly review and report which highlights
a number of things the council not doing to protect public money
as an audit.

It is not surprising he thinks the review is an audit, the Mayor
and the finance group have all referred to the report as an
audit even Streets accountants admit an oversight in their
costly report, their conclusion states very clearly they
have not carried out an audit perhaps Mr Beech should read it.

He would learn the council does not keep purchase order or
complete them correctly and does not reconcile various
things. the list goes on. A lot more issues than those expected
by Mr Beech when he previously attended a meeting and
attacked me personally and said the council error and procedural
failing are likely to be so small.

The way the council has handled the 2014 - 2015 accounts has been a farce.

Later in the meeting finance group member Cllr Elliot once
again during an explanation incorrectly said the Accountants
Streets were looking for accounting errors.

Members also decided to accept the revised statement of accounts
as a true reflection of the councils finances, How could they
decide that after the original accounts were not correct audited
and they have not been re-audited?

By asking for them to be audited it would not be a waste of
money, what was a waste of money was the review and report
now Ex Cllr Blanksby stated this on more than one occasion.
Also the money paid to the internal auditor over the last
five years was a total waste of money. Because all those
matters pointed out by Mr Beech as things not to worry to
much about should have been picked up by the internal
auditor five years ago.

Mr Beech says he believes nothing was done wrong deliberately.
Possibly he is correct we were told by Cllr Elliot it was "incompetence
and sloppiness" both just as bad when dealing with public money?

Note Mr Beech's final comment he believes nothing I propose
should be discussed by the council and request my proposal is
not discussed by members.
