Leicester City Council has refunded customers twice and they want the money back.
When Rutland County Councils Chief Executive Helen Briggs overpaid her senior staff
a similar amount of money it was agreed no one would have to return taxpayers money.
It is good to see Leicester City Council after noticing its mistake is doing all it can to
recoup taxpayers money.
A council spokeswoman said: "If customers don't pay it back, we will use our standard recovery procedure for recovering sundry debt – that is, we will send an invoice and then a reminder 14 days later. This would be followed by a second reminder 7 days later, then a 'letter before action' before any legal process begin.
