Oakham Church of England Primary School, Parks School, Ark Nursery School, near tragedy! B606

Oakham Church of England Primary School, Parks School, Ark Nursery School, near tragedy!
B606 Burley Road.

A selfish road user one of many seen in Oakham

Since the new site opened with its lack of parking the issue of inconsiderate parking has increased around Burley Road. For  some time now resident have put up with inconsiderate parents from Oakham School with their Chelsea tractors parked anywhere collecting day pupils and parents collecting children from English Martyr School. The new term has started and the small busy area has the traffic from 5 educational establishments clogging up its footpaths.

This all nearly ended with a squashed child on Tuesday a child who was walking (some children can still walk) had to walk into the busy Burley Road and was almost run down.

The headed teacher yesterday wrote to all parents reminding them of the danger of parking on pavements and asked parents to park away from the school not obstructing pavements. She went on to say she would rather a child arrived 5 minutes late to class than not due to an accident.
