Local Government Act Does Not Apply to Oakham Town Council, Awards Rutland County College, Catmose College

The local government act is there to protect public money.

Cllr Lucas wants to spend some on rewarding students at Rutland County College and Catmose
College.

I don't have an issue with them giving awards to  Catmose College as it is based within the parish,
Rutland County College is not.

The Clerk did some research today into the act and they found they can not reward a single individual, something which the Town Council has done many times in the past. Its a pity they cant reward a individual
but the law is there for a reason.

Proving the Clerks comment that national law does not apply to this rotten town council.

You would think the council would drop the idea, no not Oakham Town Council, they are
to have discussions with Rutland College in an attempt to go ahead and give them a silver
cup.

A councillor finished off by saying its a matter of the wording and we should be able to get
around the law that prevents this expenditure!

I will be sending this post to the colleges as I am sure they would not want to take any
part in the misappropriation of public money.
