Heritage Open Days

Built originally in the 12th century, Leicester Castle has had
many illustrious visitors including King Richard III, Edward I, Edward II and Henry IV.

Its timber-framed Great Hall was even used to host Parliament
in the 14th and 15th centuries. The Great Hall was later divided in
two and visitors can now see two 19th century courtrooms built in
1821. Normally closed to the public, this historic building opens its
doors to the public to explore as part of Heritage Open Days.
