Staff Required Rutland County Council and Parish Council Elections National Referendum on the Alternative Vote System.

Thursday 5th May 2011. 7am - 10pm

STAFF VACANCIES

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes when you go to vote?
Here is your opportunity to find out and earn some extra money in the process.

Rutland County Council are looking for people to help with the National Referendum and the
County and Parish Council Elections on May 5th 2011.

Rutland County Council have many people who assist every year, but they are always looking
for new recruits to help fill all the opportunities they have on offer.

There are a variety of roles required to ensure the smooth running of the process:

PRESIDING OFFICERS
POLL CLERKS
POSTAL VOTE OPENERS
COUNTERS

Payments are made for all the above duties.

The main skills required for all the roles are good communication skills, reliability, excellent attention to detail
and ability to follow strict statutory procedures.

Presiding Officers and Poll Clerks will be needed to cover Polling Stations across the
County from 6.30am until 10.15pm on the of the elections. Experience is needed
for the Presiding Officer role however, no experience is required to be a Poll Clerk.

Counters will be required on Friday 6th May 2011 starting at 9.00am.
They also need people to assist with Postal Vote opening on a daily basis during office hours from 18th April 2011 until Election day.

As the roles just require a short term commitment this could suit students, old folk, part time workers or anyone interested in just a day or so of extra work, with the possibility of further opportunities in the future
e.g. canvassing, future elections.
