Reverend Charles Sowden has been ‘suspended’ from duties from St Mary's Church, Frampton parish of Wyberton
A Diocese of Lincoln spokesman confirmed an investigation was taking place into Mr Sowden.
The spokesman, however, denied to reveal the nature of the investigation or who was carrying it out.

The Rev Charles Sowden, who is standing in at St Peter's Church in Dunston, near Metheringham, they asked him to bless their union.
But after taking advice from the Reverend Richard Eyre – rural dean for the area covering the parish – Mr Sowden wrote to the couple saying it would be inappropriate for him to perform the ceremony.
