Rosemary Conley Business goes into Administration

Quorn House Publishing Ltd and Rosemary Conley Food & Fitness Ltd have today appointed administrators, as they try to attract investors to help move their business forward.

The globally recognised health brand, managed by broadcaster, author and fitness expert Rosemary Conley CBE and her Board, says the Rosemary Conley Classes are not affected, as they are run by independent franchisees.

Rosemary Conley said: “It is business as usual for all the classes around the country. But for the core business the Board and I have had to make this difficult decision. It’s a day which the team and I have worked incredibly hard to try to avoid but the Board and I believe that this is the most responsible course of action to take. We hope that the process of administration will give us more options and help us to transform the business through new investment”.

Mark Hopkins of Elwell, Watchorn and Saxton has been appointed joint administrator. He said: “The Board has taken a responsible decision - going into early administration creates a restructuring opportunity. Our initial priority is to restructure the business and explore the clear potential for investment. Sadly the process involves some difficult decisions including the need to make a number of employees redundant”.

The company is making six staff redundant. Twenty six staff are being retained at the company’s Leicestershire HQ.

Rosemary Conley added: “My heart goes out to the staff affected, and we are talking to them today to try to work out how best we can help them. I have invested a lot of my own money into the business recently, and haven’t drawn any salary for several months, as we tried to keep things going through such tough economic times”.

The organisation invested more than a million pounds setting up a media company which launched ‘Rosemary Conley TV’, which failed to generate a return and has been draining the company’s resources for a number of years. That, coupled with a downturn in magazine sales, means that the company has had to take this difficult decision.

A local Radio Advert on Rutland Radio names the host of
the evening Caroline Aston, Caroline Aston is a comic public
speaker found on board cruise ships, a good laugh on stage
a little close to the line for a church but then my experience
of the church says it does not really matter. I would like to
have shown a better image of Caroline, but as she is a good
friend of the local mob connected to local governance she always
demands I don't take her picture, this one is out of focus as
it is cropped from the background of another photograph.
The Rutland NSPCC always refuse me access to my local parish
church to photograph the decorated church always nicely decorated
for one day in advent using decorations loaned by Gates Garden
Centre, They always claim its because they have their own
photographer although over the years I have never seen a published
photograph.
