Rutland Day, a celebration of the county's heritage and community spirit, was marked with a series of festivities in the historic town of Oakham.

The Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Sarah Furness, attended with the High Sheriff, Richard Cole, and his cadet

Morris Dancers Danced at Oakham Castle as part of their walk and dance around Oakham.

The castle grounds buzzed with activity as visitors of all ages enjoyed a variety of historic and interactive events. Archery demonstrations showcased the skill and precision of traditional archers,

The beautiful weather added to the festive atmosphere, creating a perfect day for families and friends to come together and celebrate Rutland's unique identity.

Discover Rutland, Rutland Day, Rutland Water, Food and Drink Festival

Discover Rutland, Rutland Day, Rutland Water, Food and Drink Festival

Today is Rutland Day for a number of years Anglian Water hosted celebrations
at Sykes Lane Rutland Water.

This year there is no event.

Until last year the event was free for all the public to attend. There was the normal
parking charge for those who arrived by car.

Sadly some one decided to make the day a money making event rather than
a fun day which celebrated all that was good about Rutland. By adding a food
Festival.

The Parking charge increased last year and people arriving on foot or bicycle were
charged.

Admission is £6 per car (occupants free). For visitors arriving on foot or bicycle £3 per adult; £2 for children; a family of 2 adults and up to 6 children £10.

Maybe the county town can host the event next year I am sure we could fit the food marque
somewhere in the high street.

Rutland Radio is still celebrating all day
