Vale Judo is to become a Charitable Incorporated Orginisation, To Help Cllr Terry King receive his lottery grant from sports from England.

4.3 Technical issues with the draft lease have led the Council to allow Vale Judo
to take-up use of the small hall on a monthly hire basis under a form of Hiring
Agreement. The club is currently in the process of converting to a Charitable
Incorporated Organisation (CIO) following which they will complete a formal
5 year Lease Agreement.

Many people say the company set up by Mike Newton here Oakham over ten years ago are very
good friends with Conservative Councillor Terry King.

There is a lot of evidence in the press to show the council has given a lot of support to the
private Judo Club ever since its start up in council owned property.

A report by the British Judo Organisation shows the club is doing very well adding five new clubs last year. "one of the most successful club chains in the country"

Vale Judo Club has launched five new satellite clubs throughout the East Midlands and is looking to open a sixth club in Deeping, Peterborough before the end the month.
Clubs in Grantham, Bourne, Stamford, Bingham and Melton Mowbray all opened within a day of each other from 3 to 7 June.
Originally based in Oakham and set up 10 years ago, Vale and has rapidly grown to be one of the most successful club chains in the country. It has won the British Judo Club of the Year award and is also the only club in the region with a Sport England Gold club mark award. It has seen several competitors join the British training squads.
Children’s classes are available for girls and boys from 7 to 10 years-old and 11 to 16 years-old, with the aim to build confidence, get fit and make friends.

Senior club coach Mike Newton said “We are delighted to have been able to set up the satellite clubs and look forward to introducing the sport of judo to the local community. Our classes have been exceptionally popular in Oakham and are always full. We also hope be able to extend our long running Rutland Schools Judo Programme to students in these locations.”

The local tax payer has paid and provided Mikes chain, with new premises here in Rutland within the Oakham Enterprise Park.

I can see why people say the Club Chain owners are good friends with the Conservative Deputy Leader
Terry King.

The Council also say even though all this sports project at the former prison is funded with public money:

It is not proposed to be bookable by private individuals looking to use the facilities on an ad-hoc basis.
