Video Recording and Tweeting will soon be permitted by law at Oakham Town Council Meetings The Local Audit and Accountability Bill

Video Recording and Tweeting will soon be permitted by law at Oakham Town Council Meetings

Surprisingly Rutland County Council already allow this. Oakham Town Council will be forced by law to allow tweeting and video recording at council meetings.

Only last week it reviewed its standing orders and banned all electronic equipment usage.

It was not until the Rutland Times raised the issue with the Town Council, did I realise Tweeting
was not permitted. I have blogged live from meetings in the past and even Tweeted very recently.

When you have an organisation where its own members have been spotted using their mobile phones
I find there request a little odd.

I do hope some one does start filming and put the best funniest bit on YouTube for all of us to enjoy.

Cllr Haworth flirting with Cllr Lucas for approval ensuring he wont get a smack on the hand after the
meeting. Whilst slurping from his very light in colour cola drinks.

Then we have comedian Lowe and Evil Edna Dewis, I can't wait.

I must not spoil all the surprises but when the clerk is telling little fibs it really shows.

O dear then there is Cllr Dodds, Haworth calls her the fat duchess! Her falling asleep and suddenly awakenings and asking irrelevant questions wont look good, I would be keen to show the disrespectful
responses from the Haworth camp which seems totally oblivious to.

Councils will soon be required by law to let members of the press and public use social media and video to cover meetings.
The Local Audit and Accountability Bill passed through the House of Lords on Monday night without opposition.

Bourne Town Council, Oakham Town Council and Stamford Town Council, which was named by Mr Pickles in a list of councils opposing an independent press, do not allow tweeting or filming of meetings.
