loïc gesnouin – six new
works
16 february – 2 march
We would like to view six new pieces by Loïc Gesnouin which we collected
from his studio in
Normandy last week. Loïc limits his palette to the three
primary colours of yellow, red, and blue,
which, with black and white, he builds
his paintings, initially with thin glazes which at a later
stage are overlaid
with thick oil paint to produce an incredibly rich mix of paint which can be
built
up to a thick impasto. The majority of his work is inspired by classical
music, but in this set of
paintings he has also used jazz and the colours to be
found in the stage shows of Parisian
nightclubs as his inspiration.
