The Co-operative, Suspends ATM, Cash Points, After a number of Incidents in the region

The Co-operative, Suspends ATM, Cash Points, After a number of Incidents in the region

I can remember in the days before cash point raiders used tractors to rip machines out of
the wall causing considerable structural damage to stores, they used to target Co-ops
by breaking in and using acetylene torches, which somtimes resulted in the total destruction
of stores as was the case in Oakham some years ago. When that store was rebuilt the ATM
was given it's own little place in the car park. I wonder why they did not do the same at
the new West Road store?

The Store Manager could not comment about whether the machine will be returned to use.
But he did add he hope it would.

With the elections drawing ever closer, do you know who your police and crime commissioners candidates are?

With the elections drawing ever closer, do you know who your PCC candidates are?

On 15 November 2012, for the first time ever, the public across England and Wales will elect police and crime commissioners who will be accountable for how crime is tackled in their police force area.

Police and crime commissioners (PCCs) will ensure the policing needs of their communities are met as effectively as possible, bringing communities closer to the police, building confidence in the system and restoring trust.

PCCs will make and influence key decisions that will impact on how your local area looks and feels - from CCTV, street lighting and graffiti to tackling gangs and drug-dealing.

Their job is to listen to the public and then respond to their needs, bringing more of a public voice to policing and giving the public a name and a face to complain to if they aren't satisfied.

A document has been produced by the Police Federation containing the candidates for each police force area, which can be downloaded here using the 'latest developments' link.

Oakham CCTV Failure

CCTV sign in the window of Abrakebra Restauran...Image via Wikipedia

Tesco Oakham recently paid for an extra CCTV camera
to be fitted and connected to Oakham's CCTV system.
The anti social behaviour still continues around Tesco
Once again the childrens tiles were smashed outside the
store. The camera appears to bo no deterant.
A engineer was spotted adjusting the camera this morning so once
again I can only guess it was looking at the pavement.

Why are both councils still paying for this service?
A service that  has brought no benefit to the town.
A councillor told me there has been no prosecutions aided by
CCTV evidence and council property is often damaged and the camera
was found to be pointing to the sky or the wrong way!

The only people in my view to benefit is a subsidary of  Chubb Security

Rutland CCTV group
are plannimg to spend a further
£26,500 this year on new equipment
