Pope Benedict XVI visits both Scotland and England later this week

Pope Benedict XVI visits both Scotland and England later this week, but unlike Pope John Paul II in 1982, he will not be going to Wales

I am reminded of the visit of Pope John Paul II  I was only 15

I am not a catholic but was interested in that visit because the Popemobiles were built for Pope John Paul II’s UK tour in the town I grew up in Letchworth Garden City. They were built by local firm Ogle Design  now called Ogle Noor. As a boy I alway's wanted a Chopper bike and looked at one on display in the reception. The bike was designed in Letchworth for Raleigh. I watched the transformation of the Range Rover into what we now know as the Popemobile.

This time I have no interest in the visit of the Pope, although I am lending a friend rechargeable batteries so they can use them in a loaned camera to take some photos of him later this week.

I have watched Panorama and Peter Tatchell and The Trouble with the Pope.

After watching these programmes I can only assume this pope will require the same security.

Personally I blame all religions there are more than a thousand  religions, so I can not list all of the cases of abuse here.

This is one of the latest news stories:

Church minister Robert Dando faces US child sex charges

Robert Dando was senior minister at Worcester Park Baptist Church A British Baptist minister has been charged with child abuse in the US.
Robert Dando, 46, from south-west London, has been charged with attacking two boys in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Jewish Orthodox Church Suspected abuser Avrohom Mondrowitz in an Israeli court in 2007. He is still fighting extradition back to the US

Looking back in time

Timur Dykes Mormon: Clark had called Dykes a "pied piper" earlier in the trial for filling his apartment in the early 80s with things such as exotic pets, an aquarium and games to attract boys from a Scout troop organized by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Former Mormon missionary Arthur Gary Bishop, 36, was executed on June 10th  88 in Utah for killing 5 boys (ages 4-13) for sexual gratification, saying he was "misled by Satan."

The BBC reported on the controversy around Jehovah's Witnesses child abuse in July 2002, in the Panorama program "Suffer the Little Children"

And last month the BBC reported this.

Boys 'abused' in Buddhist temple

Four boys are in hospital after being sexually abuse in a Buddhist temple
Three suspects, including a Buddhist monk, are missing after four under age boys were admitted to a hospital in eastern Sri Lanka with injuries, police said.

You can find issues in all religious groups, so I won't be going to shout at the Pope.
I just hope all the churches improve and protect young people.
