The A606 in Langham, Rutland, remains closed this afternoon following a serious incident that occurred earlier today. Police have confirmed that the road is likely to remain closed for the rest of the day as they conduct a thorough investigation.

Motorists and pedestrians are being strongly advised to adhere to the road closure signs and avoid the area altogether. Officers are emphasising the importance of respecting the cordon, as it is crucial for them to carry out their investigative work without interruption.

In a statement released by local police, Sergeant Palmer urged the public to refrain from speculating about the nature of the incident on social media. "Please be aware that this stretch of road remains closed for a period of time whilst an investigation is commenced," Sgt. Palmer stated. "I would urge anyone to refrain from making comment about the nature of the incident on Social Media as it may be distressing for those involved or with knowledge of those involved. Police will update accordingly once able to."

The focus now is on gathering evidence and understanding the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. "If anyone has been a witness to the incident, please contact 101 and quote incident reference 208 of today's date to pass on your details and Officers can be in touch," Sgt. Palmer said.
