Speaking to a person who works for the local press this weekend, I was told the current Mayor is the worse Mayor Oakham town council has ever had, that is quite a statement when you consider the behaviour of the previous one.
I won't go into details but I can assure you this person has been following events of her year very carefully.
I myself am not a big fan of etiquette but then if you are the Mayor I guess you have to go along with it. Basic manners are important.
My personal view of Mrs Spencer is she is a bully supported by bullies, she blames me for the stress this has caused her. As far as I am concerned if your going to be a bully and support bullies like Cllr Dewis, Lucas, Dodds and Haworth then you deserve stress.
She rather foolishly thought she had full control of the Rutland Times when she told them she was stepping down in May.
"I was not expecting them to publish" she said!
She needs to go now, she admits she is exhausted. If she had concentrated more on council business instead of bullying she would not be stressed. She needs to step down now and take the offer bullies with her.
She has no shame, when she laughs at a family who complained about anti social behaviour caused by the youth at Royce Recreation ground.
I can not begin to imagine the anguish this family suffered, having to sell their new home and moving into a rented home in Langham. Because the Council did not assist and then to find they just laughed at your correspondence and publicly stating they should not have bought a house next to a park.
Shameful Oakham Town Council

Petty Oakham Town Councillors and the Green Flag Application
Last year Oakham Town Councils Assistant Clerk started working on an application to obtain Green Flag Status for Cutts Close.
I was approached by Alison and asked if I would provide some photographs for the document she was preparing. I was pleased to provide photographs freely to the Council.
Then after some considerable amount of work Alison completed a draft, this was given to Town Councillors for approval. I was pleased to see it contained a selection of my photographs and some other photographers.
Alison was told to remove my photographs from the document, how petty can they get. I had not even asked for a credit. unlike Cllr Lucas's friend who provided some old black and white images. Alison was sent out to take her own photographs I passed her on the day she was carrying out that task and she rather uncomfortable told me she was just taking a few extra snaps of course I now know she was lying, not her fault when you work for such people with little or no credibility.
Oakham Town Council is very egotistic, it paid to enter loo of the year last year, hundreds of pounds were flushed down the loo entering this competition. The Council did not win, I believe because it could not justify the high cost of the reception in a London hotel to see if they had won, the whole project appeared to be a money making scam. I am pleased they got out before they lost the tax payer further money, I imagine if we had won the tax payer would have most likely had to also foot the bill for the winners plaque.
The Green Flag will also cost hundreds of pounds if not thousands if you take into account the cost of Alison's time completing the task.
Cllr Sharon Spencer previously blocked the use of my photographs for a public display last year.
What is wrong with these people?!
GREEN FLAG APPLICATION FOR CUTTS CLOSEThe application has now been submitted along with the fee. Please click here to view it.
As soon as I managed to open the document I spotted my photographs were missing, I gave the Council the chance to explain and the Clerk could not give a straight answer. As if the Clerk does not know what is going on?

Councillor Matthew Taylor, Oakham Town Council,
Dear Oakham Town Council,
Ms Jo Goodliffe wrote to Cllr Matthew Taylor ask him to resign for various reason via e-mail on the Saturday On the Monday Cllr Matthew Taylor resigned from Oakham Town Council.
The public were not informed of his immediate resignation until late Thursday.
Why?
Was the council it has been suggested members of the council were attempting to persuade him to retract his resignation, surely the council has failed the local government act once once again.

Update: reply from Town Clerk

Martin
As you say, Mr Taylor resigned in an e-mail to the Chairman of the Council on the evening of Monday 24th January. I came into work the following day and picked up the e-mail forwarded from the Chairman.
Members were informed of the resignation in an e-mail sent out by me at 8.34am on the Tuesday morning.
The Monitoring Officer was then informed in a letter sent out that same day.
I generally update the website once a week and put news of Mr Taylor's resignation on the website on the Thursday.
Richard
I guess a special time was created when I resigned as all the above was completed within less than 24hrs
