attendance‏ Cllr Gale Rutland County Council

After posting councillor attendance Statistics I received a e-mail from one of the most hard working County Councillors Richard Gale:

Martin, if you are a fair man you must tell the whole story, but that is something which would not be easy. For Example, There  are at least two councillors that have missed meetings due to ill health, another with a family problems, another that visits his family thousands of miles away for about a month annually. The council is not our lives and does not make us exempt from normal life events that would prevent us from attending some meetings.

You must fight along with us that want Council meetings fully recorded, this will show you and the public more important information, that is; who speaks and who does not, who puts arguements forward, who represents the public view and who leave the meetings early.

Cllr Richard Gale

I can only publish what Rutland County Council is willing to give me. I sure if all the reasons were given publicly rutland councillors may see this as an invasion of their privacy.
I know Oakham Town Councillors don't like the public to know reasons for absence.

If members of the public want to find more then I suggest they attend their Council meetings.

The full Council meets tonight at 7.00pm

Rutland County Council is still hiding the 2010 bank statements for the £19.6 million of public money that it has stashed away.
It makes no sense that the public are having to suffer spending cuts when the Council has got so much money on deposit.
Rutland and Melton Conservative Association has set a very good example by putting its bank statements in the public domain.
Would Rutland County Council please inform us when all of the 2010 bank statements requested on 20 January 2011 will be ready for collection.

(Jo, Rutland and Melton Conservative Association may not be aware their statements are available for the public to see)
