Rutland County Council Special Meeting 26th January 2017 Election of Council Leader Tony Mathias Video
Cllr Tony Mathias New Rutland County Council Leader
Cllr Tony Mathias New Rutland County Council Leader
Despite Tony's failing of being a Rutland Conservative I think
Rutland County Council has this evening appointed a good leader.
Tony is one of my ward Councillors and I have always found him
approachable and helpful.
This evening he appointed Oliver Hemsley as his deputy.
The biggest surprise of the evening was the appointment of the
newest Tory Conversion Cllr Alan Walters to the Cabinet.
as Portfolio Holder for Community Safety, Culture, Sport & Recreation
and Environment

Cllr Richard Gale Rutland County Council Leicestershire Police Uphold One Of His Complaints Time For CEO Helen Briggs to go
Leicestershire Police admit they got it wrong when they sent letters to Rutland County Councillor
Richard Gale after Mrs Helen Briggs the Chief Executive of Rutland County Council accused three Councillors of harassment when they were simply doing their job.
Cllr Gale said Leicestershire Police officers will receive training.
The same was said when Cllr Nick Wainwrights complaint was upheld.
These officer interfered in local politics and should be sacked.
The CEO of Rutland County Council Helen Briggs should be sacked or resign
she corrupted Leicestershire Police and has cost Rutland Tax Payers millions.
It's a shame the Chief Constable can not speak out and demand her sacking for bringing
Leicestershire Police into disrepute.
The outcome of my complaints to Leicestershire Police Anti Corruption Unit are long
over due and I hope to obtain similar findings.
And I will call for the resignation of Helen Briggs who lied to the police and in court along
with the resignation of some current Oakham Town Councillors.

Rutland County Council 20 Glorious Years 1997 - 2007
Rutland County Council 20 Glorious Years
In my agenda pack which arrived Saturday afternoon from Oakham Town Council I find a letter
to all members of Oakham Town Council dated 19th December 2016, The letter is from Kenneth
Bool Chairman of Rutland County Council. I admire the efficiency of Oakham Town Ciuncil for passing on this letter so expediently. Normally they don't bother forwarding anything to members.
The letter is a reminder that we are to celebrate 20 years of Rutland County Council.
Such a wonderful event to celebrate.
Oakham Town Councillor Joyce Lucas mentioned this at our last meeting and pointed out
she and one other person are the only Councillor who were there 20 years ago.
Now I am all for celebrating our County in which we live, but do we really need to celebrate
Rutland District Council.
We could celebrate the highest council tax in England.
We could celebrate past Chief Executives whether that was the Alcoholic or the woman who harassed
men in the work place.
We could celebrate a Council that lost millions and brought suicide awareness into the workplace.
We could celebrate Adult Social Services caring nature towards the elderly like the couple
who starved to death in their supervision
We could celebrate the millions of pounds spent by the council trying to silence its critics.
We could celebrate the corruption of the local police.
We could celebrate the big build becoming the little build.
We could celebrate the loss of decent post 16 Education and provision for special needs children.
The list we could celebrate is endless......
The last time the Council celebrated was ten years ago and the current Tory CEO Helen Briggs
spoke to a national newspapers and they reported the following.
"We are lean and mean," enthuses chief executive Helen Briggs, who lives in Oakham.at the 10th Anniversary of Rutland's Independence,
Photograph of Helen Briggs Rutland County Council CEO
taken on the day she actually said sorry for losing Rutland millions.
The biggest gift Helen Briggs could give to Rutland would be her retirement.
most if not all her Tory gang have gone.
Tony Mathias could prove he is a Conservative with a small, c as he likes to
be known as. If he is elected leader of the Council next week he should sack
her and her team.

Oakham Town Council Accounts and Statements December 2016
Oakham Town Council Accounts and Statements December 2016
One of the legal duties of a parish Councillor is to approve payments and the monthly accounts.
Since we have change the accounts software we are no longer given a schedule of payments to
approve as an agenda item, it is enclosed it the statement of accounts which are poorly presented.
The list of payments no longer shows the reason for the payment, I raised this at last nights meeting
and was told it will be looked into.
Once again all the other members of the council accepted the accounts. It appears to me they
would accept anything placed in front of them and it is my opinion they are all neglecting their
responsibilities to protect public money.
The same applies to the Councillors who sign the cheques before meetings. Before our first meeting
I watched two councillors signing and not looking for work orders etc.
The assistant Clerk carefully check all have been signed and sees the stubs have not been initialed.
She then finds a cheque has not been signed by one of the councillors, he is told he has missed one
and signs it without checking anything.
This poor standard of care was witnessed by another councillor who joked put one in for me.
In the list shown are a number of items paid that I am not able to tell the tax payer what the
expenditure is for.
At the meeting the chairman pointing out it is important that all Cllrs know what they are approving.
I asked why we paid Lite Ltd a large sum in November no answer was given.
I also asked why we are paying GE Capital Ltd? which could be the cleaners store card etc and was told it was payment for the new printer copier. I did not ask about all the others because it is pointless.
I just voted against the accounts.
I wonder if other members understand the legal consequences of approving these unclear accounts are?
