Cllr Jan Fillingham Oakham Town Councillor who opened town toilets as Mayor 2009 Resigns

Jan Fillingham MBE resigns as Councillor.

The Chairman of Oakham Town Council received a letter from Jan Fillingham confirming her resignation from the Town Council. No reason was given in the letter.

Mrs Fillingham was Mayor and Chairman of Oakham Town Council in 2009.

The biggest achievement that year for Rutland County Council and Oakham Town Council was the completion of the public toilets.

Mrs Fillingham officially opened the loo and a live flush was broadcast on Rutland Radio.

The Toilet opening attracted a lot of media coverage
that's Oliver from the Rutland Times explaining how
to cut the ribbon so he could catch a nice shot
for the paper the Chairman of Rutland County Council
Edward Baines watches with interest.

Just a the correct moment local artist Jo Goodliffe
turned up to protest the Reporter on the
right nearly required to be first in the loo, laughing so much
No one from RCC or OTC could
understand Jo Goodliffes humour.
In 2009 she put a huge amount of effort into protest for
fun and it did make some people smile.

The scissor did not work, the official word is they
were blunt but if you look closely you can see
they were upside down.

Jo goodliffe looks over to see whats happening
this in turn spoils Cllr Harrisons photo
"The Mercury won't pay me if she is in it" refering to Jo

Helen Pender was waving a out of date MP's
expenses supplement.

So an extra ribbon cutting was staged with Jo Goodliffe
shut in the disabled loo!

Whilst that was going on
Rob from Rutland
Radio interviewed staff
from Rutland County Council

At this point everyone is starting to depart

The leader of Rutland County Council Roger Begy OBE
and the Town Clerk Richard White
came out to enjoy the moment

With so many important people at the event
Oakham police station sent a PCSO to guard Helen Pender
don't know what happened to him never saw him again

Cllr Joyce  Lucas flew in on her bike to take a snap or two
she use the same camera as me Panasonic Lumix
