At last night Oakham Town Council meeting the public toilets were back on the agenda.
The public toilets will be closed at 5pm for the period December 1st 2010 - February 2011.
This is to prevent anti social behaviour. Some Councillor were concerned about this, the clerk was staying tight lipped about what happened last year. Some thing happened between the contractor and a group of youths but it was clear he was not willing to give information during a public meeting.
Cllr Tor Clark and Cllr Alan Walters were concerned about the convenience for shoppers. Cllr Joyce Lucas pointed out Tesco has a loo.
Cllr Charles Haworth could not see any reason why the loo had to be opened on Sunday, Tuesday or Friday because people don’t shop in Oakham on those days.
After spending over £100,000 on the new loos it would be nice to know people could use them.
Cllr Maureen Dodds said if people did not use the loo at work before they returned to the car park it was hard luck on them!
The council approved the early closure of the loos because young people hang about the car park.
