Last night Oakham Town Councils Parks and recreation committee met.
This meeting was chaired by Cllr Charles Haworth. Looking so academic with his new facial hair.
Cllr Haworth was not happy with the minute of the previous minutes, The clerk looked as if he wanted to kill him and quipped we have been dealing with this matter for a week. Can we defer it. Cllr Haworth and other members were not happy to be deferred and the minutes were amended to include what Mr Haworth said, regarding windows not being replaced when they were broken in empty shops.
Its good to see Councillor suffering the frustration that is the town clerk the meeting before it was Cllr Tor Clark. Who will it be next time?
Councillors discussed empty retail units with broken windows and the lack of repair.
Cllr Dewis mentioned the state of Blockbuster Video something I have pointed out before. Its shocking such a large multi national allows one of their stores to look like it does.
The skate park was next on the agenda, The new flood lights were the subject of discussion and some confusion. It is clear the council want the young people to raise money and I think they were expecting the young people to work for it. It was suggested they asked PC Lloyd to help and he has found £100 from a police fund. Councillors were clearly not happy with this.
Cllr Sharon Spencer said clarification was needed if the young people have approached the police for money then they have raised it.
Cllr Joyce Lucas expressed her concern that a police man was putting ideas into the young peoples heads, he had suggested a roof to them over the skate park.
Royce playing fields Cllr Joyce Lucas said she had her new trees and will be planting them soon.
The issue with the nest swing is that Kompan have finally stated that a smaller tyre swing would have to be specially made. The office is trying to ascertain how much this would cost. The advantage of this is that the existing new structure would remain. It would appear that any other options would be extremely expensive and would possibly entail the removal of the existing structure.
There is some good news regarding the church yard after 3 years of deciding the council fitted bollards on Wednesday. It is pity grave stones had to be damaged by parking over the years.
Now those family and friends of councillors will have to pay to park like others do.
