Paul Freeman, Kathryn McDonald, Richard Broughton and Jane Hales are treking along the Great Wall of China in April 2011 to raise money for 'Headway - the brain injury association.
Jane's 21 year old son Simon, a student at Newcastle University and long time waiter and barman at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel, suffered a severe traumatic brain injury as the result of taking a wrong turn home in October 2009 and is currently still on the very long road to recovery.
We have been moved and inspired to embark on this challenge and raise money for Headway who offer huge support to those who have suffered brain injury, their families and friends.
They are not a high profile charity since unless your life has been affected most folk have no idea that they exist.
Richard Evans,Mark and Katherine Coleman, friends of Jane's from Rutland Running Club fundraised by asking for sponsorship and ran the Rutland Water Marathon on 7th November 2010. Sara Traylen, work colleague and friend will be 'swimming the channel' in the local pool and is also looking for sponsorship. Thanks so much to all 4 of you.
Stamford Farmers Ball Committee donated a STAGGERING £1000 from their Heads and Tails Competition - THANKYOU!!
More thanks to Toft House Hotel and Golf Course and the 64 brave men who played golf in horrendous conditions to help us raise £1500.00!!!
Remade in Rutland collected at their open days in Braunston and Market Harborough - THANKYOU!
