Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland Air Ambulance, Charity, Cllr John Nowell, BBC Inside Out

Oakham Town Councillor John Nowell, Area Organiser For Oakham
Still almost  one year on under police investigation.

It was interesting to  watch Inside out and  see what people are locally
complaining about. They say we give our money to run the Air Ambulance.

The Boss of the charity is paid over £100,000 a year. He also uses
a company that employs his wife.

Staff are paid thousands in bonuses.

New shops are being opened costing thousands to fit out and managers
are paid high wages. In Oakham the Charity took over one of Oakham's
most expensive retail properties.

Nottingham and Lincolnshire are complaining about the charity intruding
into their area.

I was told the is going to open a store in London this year. So I imagine
this will result in complaints from fundraisers in London.

My view is this charity is no different from any other big charity who pay
to much for there staff and entertainment fund raising,

It is no surprise smaller charities spring up who actually pass on all the
money raised for their cause.

Cllr John Nowell, Oakham Town Councillor, Derbyshire Leicestershire Rutland Air Ambulance, Charity, organiser, interviewed under caution by Leicestershire Police Economic Crime Unit

Cllr John Nowell, Oakham Town Councillor, Derbyshire Leicestershire Rutland Air Ambulance, Charity organiser, interviewed under caution by Leicestershire Police Economic Crime Unit.

On Monday Oakham Town Councillor John Nowell and Mrs Nowell were both interviewed
under police caution by a Leicestershire Constabulary Detective.

Both were released pending further investigations.

This morning Oakham Town Council appeared to be unaware of this development.

I also sent a message to the Deputy Mayor Cllr Adam  Lowe, who stated he was unaware of the case.
he said he could not call me, because he was in a meeting with a solicitor and his phone was on silent,

Here 's hoping Cllr Lowe has not been naughty again.

Cllr John Nowell Collecting for the Air Ambulance

Leicestershire Constabulary have requested, I refrain from publishing details about the case. They
feel this may effect any charges that may be brought when put before the CPS.

I imagine this will mean that the Rutland Times and Mercury will be happy not to mention the case
in anyway, due to their cosy relationship with the town council.

Unless Cllr Haworth's comment "we have lost control of the paper" rings true?

What can this charity do?
Following further investigation with consultants and scientists, they have confirmed that much more could be done for children diagnosed with brain tumours, specifically in the area of research and aftercare. Therefore the aim of the trust will be to raise money to fund research into the cure of children with brain tumours and improve the rehabilitation facilities and support available to those children who are hopefully cured.

Former Oakham School pupils Andrew Highfield and Tom Smith to take on Tough Guy challenge for charity

Taking place at the end of January, in freezing Winter conditions, Tough Guy™ is staged over a course of thirteen kilometres. You will need every last ounce of mental and physical strength you can muster to rise to this challenge. Your fear of heights, tight spaces, fire, water and electricity will be tested to the max. Everyone bar the very toughest will be beaten! It consists of a gruelling mud run followed by a beasting through 'The Killing Fields' assault course - not forgetting the barbed wire, cuts, scrapes, burns, dehydration, hypothermia, acrophobia, claustrophobia, electric shocks, sprains, twists, joint dislocation and broken bones with cure all hot tea/chocolate & biscuits you should be so lucky.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention we have to sign our own death warrant for legal reasons before we begin.
Both Tom's and my familes have been effected by Cancer in the past few years and we have seen first hand how difficult it can be on both those affected by cancer and the families round them.

The Virgin London Marathon is one of the great British sporting events, combining elite athletics, mass participation and record-breaking fundraising in one race. LOROS (The Leicestershire and Rutland Organisation for the Relief of Suffering) is a local charity dedicated to providing the highest standard of care and support for terminally ill patients and thier families.

It costs LOROS well over £7 million, to provide this care and this amount rises annually, and although a part of this sum is granted to them by the NHS, it still leaves a staggering amount to be raised by the many supporters and volunteers who do so much for LOROS.

Paul is busy training he has given up the booze and fags and hope all his hard work will raise at least £2,000

Barnsdale Lodge For Simon, treking along the Great Wall of China in April 2011

Paul Freeman, Kathryn McDonald, Richard Broughton and Jane Hales are treking along the Great Wall of China in April 2011 to raise money for 'Headway - the brain injury association.

Jane's 21 year old son Simon, a student at Newcastle University and long time waiter and barman at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel, suffered a severe traumatic brain injury as the result of taking a wrong turn home in October 2009 and is currently still on the very long road to recovery.

We have been moved and inspired to embark on this challenge and raise money for Headway who offer huge support to those who have suffered brain injury, their families and friends.

They are not a high profile charity since unless your life has been affected most folk have no idea that they exist.

Richard Evans,Mark and Katherine Coleman, friends of Jane's from Rutland Running Club fundraised by asking for sponsorship and ran the Rutland Water Marathon on 7th November 2010. Sara Traylen, work colleague and friend will be 'swimming the channel' in the local pool and is also looking for sponsorship. Thanks so much to all 4 of you.

Stamford Farmers Ball Committee donated a STAGGERING £1000 from their Heads and Tails Competition - THANKYOU!!

More thanks to Toft House Hotel and Golf Course and the 64 brave men who played golf in horrendous conditions to help us raise £1500.00!!!

Remade in Rutland collected at their open days in Braunston and Market Harborough - THANKYOU!
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities.

If you want to support the fund raising please visit Virgin Money Giving this a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for that is.

We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

Street Charity Leicester

If you visit Leicester City Centre you can't help miss these people who work hard to sign people up to give to charity.

Very friendly if not annoying today's group have taken to walking up to people waving and pleading with the passerby to stop and talk to them. This is worse than the beggars and the poor big issue seller the conservatives tried to ban from Leicester.

I have a trick to stop them carry a camera! this one was heading for me and took a turn and trapped the couple in the second photo lucky them.

"Hello! I am not asking for any money, just your details so I can send you some information"

My thought is if it is illegal to rattle a charity can then you should not be able to behave like these companies on the streets.

Beating of the Retreat Oakham September 8th 6.30 pm

Beating of the Retreat returns to the
Market Place Oakham
Wednesday 8th September 2010
6.30 pm

All Welcome

The Life Guards Band will perform

Oakham's Mayor Cllr Sharon Spencer will
attend and leave to chair a delayed
Town Council Meeting

There will be collection for the ABF The soldiers Charity
(formally the: The Army Benevolent Fund - the Army's official charity)

I am always keen to support charity but this event concerns me, last year it collected less in the buckets than the cost of the reception held for invited dignitaries at Oakham Castle after the public event.

It is my understanding charities like these are set up to raise money for the very justified deserving causes they claim to support.

So I ask any so called local dignitaries who attends think carefully if you are invited to a free reception this year. NOTHING IN THIS WORLD IS FREE

The cost of last years reception would have help pay  for Big Brother's Steve's  better legs, he wants and needs and he is covered by this  branch of the charity.

Maybe the organisers should sell tickets to cover the cost and raise some cash for this worthy cause.

How about it Mr ********? and don't you dare approach me this year and tell me I am not welcome at this public event! I don't take threats anymore!
