When sewage flows through pipes it releases a gas called Hydrogen Sulphide, this turns into Sulphuric Acid which slowly eats into the concrete and damages the pipes.

Rutland's most famous landmark was saved from flooding when Rutland Water was created in the 1970s. Now with the floor raised almost half way up the church, it is a fascinating building with a unique history. I am not sure the raising of the floor has added any character to this old, the concrete foundations and slabs can be see  from the outside windows
Normanton Church has been  licensed to hold weddings since 2010, so if you are making a special trip to see inside the building, please call ahead to ensure the building will be open. The Museum was closed and the church now only appears to be open to those willing to part with
£3.

Looking through the window the venue reminded me of your typical registrar office or hotel room.

30 minute Guided Tours are available on numerous dates on Sunday-Wednesday's from April to September and most Sunday's in October.

There is a slot in the outside wall if you have any spare money after you have paid your
ever increasing water bill, looking closely at the slot it appears rather unused full of cobwebs.

I think the description refers to the days when Rutland ceased to exist and was gobbled up
by Leicester who were forced to spit it back out some years later.
You can even combine the church tour with a cruise on the Rutland Belle from Whitwell

Groups can book an exclusive morning tour by calling the information number: 01780 6868000

Rutland Water Warning Signs Anglian Water

Rutland water has many warning signs like this, so much information. One thing they forgot
whilst thinking up these awful signs is children play near them. It was pointed out to me those
pointed corners are very sharp. So I took a look they are.

While on the subject of sign I know Anglian needs to make money but do we really need to
see all the advertising banners along footpaths for a large restaurant.

Small directional sign to facilities should be enough.

I think a lot of people walk in the countryside to escape the commercialised world just for a moment?
