Blocking and Spending on Footpaths in Cutts Close Oakham Town Council

The Town Council is being asked to consider alterations to the pavements and closure of one too people with push chairs, wheel chairs and mobility scooters. Just in case they fall over. In Cutts Close Oakham.

I can not imagine why or who is going to benefit from the undisclosed expense.

Because in the attached appendix the Clerk writes:

Footpath running from Burley Road Car Park

The main issue is with this path is the width, The Committee may feel that work should be
undertaken to widen the path so that access for disabled, and particularly those who use
wheelchairs or mobility scooter, is improved from the Burley Road Car Park. This
issue has not been raised in the Green Flag report and the office has not received any complaints
from those using this section of path  network in the park.

If there has been no complaint why the need to even consider this huge cost and spend of tax payers
money. Has the Clerk had a visit from a friendly tarmac man or woman? It makes no sense to me.

I spent a short time in the park yesterday evening after shopping in Tesco and saw people pushing push chair all around the park making it all look fairly easy. I spotted one lady who was manoeuvring a fairly large push chair. I asked her if she had any issues with the paths, unfortunately she spoke no English, but from my own observations I could see no problems.
