Oakham Town Council Opening Hours, Cleaner, Staff Sickness

Oakham Town Council Opening Hours

The Staffing Committee met

Cllr Nowell went home sick and other councillor went to the pub and had a few orange juices.

This left the Chairman Cllr Alf Dewis and Cllr Maureen Dodds and Joyce Lucas to make decisions.

They decided the Council office will  now only be opened to visits from the public Monday - Thursday
10.00am - 2.00pm

The welcome outside these hours will no longer be allowed the Clerk and Assistant Clerk have been instructed not to open the door. for many years the advertised hours have included visitors are welcome outside these hours.

They then moved onto the matter of appointing a cleaner.

Cllr Lucas Mayor  said she was not criticising the staff but back in May the office and chamber was filthy and she wrote her name in the dust.

She felt it was not professional for members of the public to see the mugs that belonged to the staff. She then publicly declared she knew where the staff were currently hiding those mugs?

She then pointed out the lamps in the chamber are currently filthy. Filthy is something I associate with the mouth of her deputy.

There was a lot of discussion concluding with The Assistant Clerk will continue to do basic cleaning and once a month the Victoria Hall Cleaner could be trusted to blitz the office and chamber once a month.

Now in 2011 Cllr Dewis stated the Council does not have a staff sickness policy or procedure. He and Councillor Lucas and Dodds approved a new policy and procedure document.

That another the Clerks perks lost.
