At tonight's Oakham Town Council's Parks and Planning Committee.
The Mayor asked for permission to write to the Cottesmore Hunt. She pointed out the hunt agrees to clean up Cutts Close after the boxing day event. She said she inspected Cutts Close three days later, only to give up counting the piles of horse poo once she had counted five. Five days later she returned to see there had been no clean up.
She said if the letter was sent now it won't come as a surprise to the hunt, if when they applied later this year for consent, that consent may not be granted.
Concerns were raised about public safety after people slipped on the wet slopes.
There were also complaints about hounds, when released they run straight into the castle from Cutts Close where there is badger set.
All Councillors agreed, accept Cllr Charles Haworth who did not want his vote minuted.
A letter will be sent to the hunt worded nicely suggesting the hunt might like to look into using the market
place, just like they do in Uppingham.
I guess the council could look for inspiration from the letter the church sent them last year, when it did not want the Mayors Carol concert to be held in its church any more.
