Oakham Town Council Community or Voluntary Group Grants £10,000 available
Don't get to excited because I remember certain councillors suggesting the availability of grants
should not be advertised.
And if Councillor stick to tradition the will hand a large proportion of this sum to
Oakham in Bloom
The Oakham Festival
and the CAB
Which would leave around £1,000 for everyone else.
The CAB is a good cause and I am concerned the new application form points out receipts must
be given to the council after the money is spent.
As regular readers will know I think the festival has had money given to them far to easily in the past.
And after witnessing what we were treated to last year If I was still a Councillor I would not vote to
give them another penny.
I wonder how much of the £2000 was paid to the group set up in a pub two weeks before and the
boys who were dragged out of bed on the Saturday morning to play the spare instruments, their words
not mine.
If you want to give it a go contact the council for an application form and complete it before the
end of March.
