Oakham Tennis Club Floodlight battle continues. on-line petition

The Tennis Club Floodlight battle continues.

I strongly believe if The Residents did not have such a rude leader and the tennis club also refrained from passing on insults either in person or by distributing letters to  Town Councillors then this matter could be resolved.

Saying that after living next to a sports ground myself some time ago, I agree with the residents activities can be a nuisance and should not be expanded. I  think you learn to live with issues as they are.

I wonder how many supporters would be happy to have late night sport floodlit at the bottom of there nice gardens. Most of the residents gardens are small and the tennis club feels as if it is part of some of those gardens.

A Northcliffe Digital Media employee herself a tennis player, is using one of their local sites to promote a petition supporting the tennis club.

Sign the Petition
If you would like to pledge your support to the campaign for floodlights you can do so by signing the online petition which will be used to build a case to encourage the Town Council to sustain and develop tennis as a sport in our town.  (I don't mind publicising the petition as we know they are something most councils ignore)

It looks like it will be a interesting planning meeting on Wednesday.

Those residents who are against the installation of the floodlights might like to look at the legal position and how the outcome of the meetings resolution was recorded.

I believe the six month rule applies, the clerk said it does not, but past experience has shown his advice is sometimes wrong.

He says because the tennis club has changed the amount of lights it wants to erect the rule does not apply.

I believe the council passed a resolution no lights were to be installed at the club and therefore the rule does apply and Councillor can vote not to revisit the agenda item.
