The full council met this evening and Conservative Chairman Edward Baines defiantly led members in Prayer at 18.59.
Mr Edward Baines is a old school man and I believe a committed Christian. He does not believe in the digital world and has never sent a email. A fellow Conservative joked late in the meeting that the Council will succeed with Digital Rutland and Digital Edward.
Mr Baines said "I will be reading the prayer as normal if there are any members who don't wish to join me standing then please remain seated.
Before the meeting started some members were discussing the prayer issue. They seemed to think the council prayer was inclusive of all faiths. I did not interrupt, when a councillor spoke to me I pointed out their perception was wrong for example of you were Buddhist you would not want to pray to a God.
