You can walk to Barleythorpe from Oakham through the Hawksmead development.
When you do you get a sense of a hosing estate built slap bang in the middle of our splendid Rutland Countryside.
Unlike a lot of our town streets you don't yet have to dodge dog turds on the pavements, just a littering of rabbit droppings.
Lots of wildlife can be seen roaming the streets. There are also many sign instructing the developers not to disturb badger sets.
I was surprised by the lack of gardens for family homes this resulting in people place rotary washing lines in there front gardens always a good addition to any smart estate like this one.
The are plenty of places for the young rabbits to roam and play. I wonder where the Children will play? The industrial estate? The Deep Water surrounded by waning signs? or the proposed new shops?

When I first moved to Oakham this block looked rather lonely standing in the centre of the field with balcony views out towards Oakham's All Saints Church. Now from the same balconies the resident can sit an enjoy the homes below and the 1000's to be built behind them,
