Two Oakham men receive custodial sentences for drug offences

Two Oakham men have been sentenced to more than three years in prison between them for drugs offences.

Dean Alan Snow (39) and Michael Kirby (39) both of The Sidings were sentenced on Wednesday June 6 after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing.

Dean Snow pleaded guilty to possessing a controlled drug with intent to supply and supplying/offering to supply a controlled drug to another and was sentenced to two years.

Michael Kirby pleaded guilty to producing a controlled drug, possessing a controlled drug with intent and destroying/damaging property.  He was sentenced to 16 months in prison.

Inspector Kam Mistry of Rutland local policing unit, said:  “Both Snow and Kirby are prolific offenders who have been concerned in the supply of Class A, B and C drugs in the area.
“We are pleased with the verdict and the fact that these men have been sent to prison to answer to their crimes, we hope the sentences reassure the community that we take crimes of this nature extremely seriously and we will leave no stone unturned in investigating the community’s concerns.”

I was surprised to read these men made it to prison, most people who have been connected to drugs and live in The Sidings in Oakham have died from overdoses before.
