Oakham Peacock Donated by HMP Ashwell Prison costs £4000
It was reported on Rutland Radio the peacock donated by the former prison has cost Oakham in Bloom
over £4,000 to install and plant.
since its installation it has been planted twice. the tail end is very shallow and dries very quickly, fortunately for the peacock the weather has been terrible since the last planting. Despite the heavy rain the night before I noticed last night how dry the soil is now.
The above photograph was taken after the first planting had quickly dried and died and of course before the
rather expensive and ugly sign was erected in front of the installation.
