Rutland Residents Engage with Cash Access UK on New Banking Hub at Oakham Castle, questioning Natalie Ceeney, Chair of Cash Access UK.

Excitement for Oakham's upcoming banking hub crackled in the air of Oakham Castle on 25th January 2024 as Natalie Ceeney, Chair of Cash Access UK, met with local residents to discuss the project.

Joined by Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland, the event offered a warm-hearted platform for residents to voice their questions and hopes for the hub, set to open in April 2023.

With the closure of several high-street banks in recent years, the arrival of the hub is a beacon of hope for Rutland residents seeking access to vital banking services. The hub, to be located at the former Lloyds Bank building on High Street, promises a welcoming space where customers of all major banks and building societies can conduct everyday transactions.

Ms. Ceeney and Ms. Kearns fielded questions with patience and understanding, acknowledging the concerns of some residents who were disappointed that certain desired services, couldn't be offered due to existing regulations. Ms. Kearns, assured the crowd that she's actively working with colleagues and regulators to see if some of these limitations can be addressed.

Despite the regulatory hurdles, the overall mood remained positive. Over tea and cake, residents engaged in lively discussions, eager to understand how the hub would operate and how it could best serve the community. Questions ranged from accessibility for those with disabilities to the range of services available. The event culminated in a sense of shared anticipation and a renewed appreciation for the vital role such community hubs play in ensuring financial inclusion.
