Distinguished cellist Alexander Baillie is no stranger to Stamford - he first appeared at the Arts Centre in 1980, establishing a faithful following during many subsequent visits. He began playing the cello at the age of twelve having been directly inspired by Jacqueline du Pré. He went on to study at London's Royal College of Music and with André Navarra in Vienna. He will be well remembered for his solo cello renditions of Schnittke Cello Sonatas. For this eagerly awaited concert Alexander is joined by his son Max, a talented violinist and teacher who treated a full Ballroom to a stunning lunchtime concert in 2005 when he was joined by Rowena Calvert and Eleanor Turner.
