Devon and Cornwall Police England and Wales Police and Crime Commissioner elections, 2012
Devon and Cornwall Police
Brian Blake, a former Devon and Cornwall Constabulary and Ministry of Defence Police Officer with three decades service with Devon and Cornwall Police and thirteen years service with the Ministry of Defence Police, is standing for the Liberal Democrats.
Brian Greenslade, former Chairman of Devon & Cornwall Police Authority, former Liberal Democrat Chairman of Devon County Council and Resources Chair and Board Member APA, is standing as an independent.
Commodore Tony Hogg, Commanding Officer of RNAS Culdrose, is the Conservative candidate. "I am a Conservative Party member; I vote Conservative and believe the Party most closely represent my views. I believe it is important that the electorate know that, but I am probably more independently minded than other candidates!"
Ivan Jordan RIBA, chartered architect and farmer, is standing as an independent, having never been a member of a political party. His main pledges are Justice for All, and a focus on crime prevention and reduction of re-offending rates by partnering with voluntary organisations and the NHS.
Nicky Williams is the Labour candidate. "Meeting people on the doorstep, and talking with serving Officers, I hear how worried they are about creeping privatisation of our Police. Companies like G4S are interested in profit, not public service; I want a visible Police presence on our streets to prevent crime and provide a fast response."
William Morris, Secretary General of the Next Century Foundation (NFC) and Chairman of the International Council for Press and Broadcasting, is standing as an independent candidate. His interest is crime prevention and firmly believes that social deprivation is a key cause of crime.
John Smith, a former Chairman of Devon & Cornwall Police Authority and former Liberal Democrat Devon County Councillor, is standing as an independent. "I will maintain an effective community based Police Service to clamp down on anti-social behaviour – Neighbourhood Policing teams, Police Community Support Officers, Neighbourhood Watch – the eyes, intelligence sources and the ‘first responders’ of the Police Service."
