Yates Bar Temp Christmas Staff and Diet Coke with No Ice

Yates Bar Temp Christmas Staff

The most unusual thing happened when I ordered my
Diet Coke with NO ICE
The barman put ice into a large glass,
this often happens in any bar if you ask for no ice.
I thought he would tip away the ice, no he took a smaller glass.
I asked why the small glass, he replied this gives you the same
amount of Cola as if you had Ice! Because at Yates we
make the cola stronger so the Ice does not weaken
the Cola flavour, he may be right because it did taste stronger.

Free Unsecure Internet for all to use at Rutland County Council

Rutland County Council has free insecure internet access.

I am wondering how much confidential data can be accessed from Councillors computers.

After complaining about a number of comments of a vile and homophobic nature were posted on my blog.

An investigation was carried out my RCC.

The result was pretty poor.

And reveals how antiquated RCC is when it comes to IT and Computer security. I hope the hackers don't park outside the council chamber.

If someone was behaving like this in a ordinary work place, they would be found.

Letter from G Pook.

Hello Mr Brookes.

I refer to e-mail communications and discussions about the apparent postings to and accessing of your blog site through County Council internet routers.  In particular we have investigated a posting made in the morning of 28 October which your tracing information identified as being sent via the Oakham Library public access router and accessing via the public access connection which is set up to serve the public meeting room areas in the Council office building in the evenings of 28 October and 18 November and in the early afternoon of Sunday 21 November.  As far as the accessing from the Council offices is concerned, you have provided some tracing information which suggests that the same computer has been used to make in excess of 230 visits to your blog since August, although many of those occasions have involved different IP addresses.  The information contains some details of the configuration of the computer.

I have explained previously that whilst we do hold some information about individuals who requested a session on the Library public access computers on 28 October, it is impossible to identify who might have made the posting on that occasion.

My IT colleagues have examined the records of Council-owned and supplied computers against the configuration details you provided.  None matches all of the details.  I have explained before also that it cannot be said with certainty that any episode of accessing from the IP address for the public access area must have arisen from a computer being used inside the building.  Depending on the type and quality of the device, it is possible that the connection could be used within significant areas of the car park and grounds of Catmose and even in the immediate vicinity of Stamford Road.  Furthermore, public meetings were held in the building in the evenings of 28 October and 18 November.  There is no record of anyone entering the building on Sunday 21 November.  Normal entry arrangements are disabled at the weekends.  CCTV images have been checked for the period around the time of the accessing which you provided.

I appreciate it will be frustrating that this path of possible investigation has not produced positive results, but we have looked at the information available as fully as possible.  In the unfortunate event that a posting which you find objectionable, especially if you consider it to be homophobic, is made via a Council IP address on another occasion, please supply the details and we will do what we can to investigate.  Please let us know also if you change your mind about wishing access to your blog to be blocked on the Library computers.

Regards
Geoff Pook

Letter Received From Cllr Peter Jones Rutland County Council

Cllr Peter Jones sent the following email after I commented via my blog regarding the Hippo Prize.
I listened to Rutland Radio and I am sure Joy said she was pleased a family member had won the prize.
Another person told me it was her granddaughter.
I do not feel the need to say sorry.
This is the same woman who refused to accept my nomination when I was a Councillor to join her elite committee.
Her friends sent me threatening E-mails, Mr Carey who subsequently resigned from Art for Rutland and her other friend from Music and Moore who drunkenly abused me at the festival.

Mr  Brookes

Re Your Blog – Hippo Trail Prize posted 2nd Dec  @ 10.30

You are completely right about one thing only in your comments and that is
“ I will most likely get done for posting this blog”.   Exactly right, you will. BUT not because you are the public champion for speaking up, NOT because no one else will expose corruption. But because your comments are a complete fabrication.

First because Isabelle Alston who I presented the Hippo prize to, is NOT Joy Everett’s granddaughter, and before you claim mistaken identity, Mrs Everitt has NO grandchildren.
You either concocted your comments out of spite for some reason which I suspect no-one will understand, or you were fed deliberate misinformation which you chose to publish without any effort to check. Either way you are guilty of a nasty attempt to smear yet again someone who works tirelessly for the public and the arts community.

You care not what damage you may have done to your victim’s personal feelings. You know nothing of their personal circumstances.

I and, I am sure, many others, now expect an unqualified Public apology to Mrs Everitt and her family plus a personal hand written letter to Mrs Everitt expressing your regret & sorrow.

Finally if anything good has come out of this, it will perhaps cast even more doubt as to the validity of the smears you have published against  people in or involved in the public & charity sectors.

Peter Jones

My reply to Cllr Peter Jones,
Dear Mr Jones,

i may be wrong about the relationship but Joy Everett in her own words on Rutland Radio said she was pleased a family member had won the prize.

Maybe you can tell me who she is? and her relationship.

martin brookes
As joy said in an radio interview it was a family why do I need to say sorry.

It appears some information was given in good faith and after I had listened to Rutland Radio.

I have never recieved an appolagy from any of your Arts friends for example Mr Carey and the woman from music and more.

I find the comments on my my blog tonight disgusting.

I have been out of town all afternoon and evening to return and find comments that mirror you e-mail Mr Jones. I suggest this is also one of your friends! Unless, course you have had one too many tonight yourself?
