Winter in Rutland

Rutland County say all missed bin collections have now been collected.CA sites are open as normal. All collections are now on schedule.
Garden waste collections are cancelled until the next scheduled collections in January 2011.

Gritting
During period of cold weather, drivers are advised to take care on the roads, please see the Gritting pages of this website for further advice. If further snowfall is expected in the county please see the Highways Agency  for traffic and travel advice.

Further Winter Weather Advice
All agencies in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland are work together during the cold weather to keep people safe and ensure our communities can go about their daily business.
Every effort is made to keep disruption to a minimum but people are urged to remember the important messages below.

• Drivers should familiarise themselves with gritted routes and stick to the main roads. Please see the gritting pages of Rutland County Councils website for more information.

• Adapt your driving style to the conditions and remember:
- conditions can change very quickly. If they are hazardous, consider whether your journey is really necessary
- to plan your journey
- to allow extra time
- to avoid braking sharply
- to be aware of vehicles around you

• Look out for vulnerable neighbours, family members or friends who may need help with shopping and other daily living tasks.

• Frozen water is not safe and children and adults should keep off it at all times. Owners should either avoid walking their pets near frozen water or make sure dogs are kept on leads.

Refuse and Recycling Collections
On Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, bins will be collected one day earlier than normal.

i.e - if your normal collection day is 24 December - your NEW collection day will be 23 December.

If you normally have your collection on a Monday, your 3rd January collection will take place on Tuesday 4th.

In if doubt, check the collection calendar all households received earlier this year.

You will shortly receive one pink sack for additional landfill waste - put out with your black bin on your first landfill collection after Christmas.

You will also receive one blue sack for additional recycling - put out with your grey bin on your first recycling collection after Christmas.

They will not collect any other side waste. Please remember all bin lids MUST be closed.

Please recycle as much as possible over the Christmas holiday.

Civic Amenity sites
Civic Amenity sites will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Please use these sites, and local recycling banks for
additional recycling and household waste over the Christmas period.
