Oakham Town Council Say: The War Memorial in All Saints Churchyard
is currently being sympathetically cleaned.
The work is being paid for by Oakham Town Council
and the Trustees of the Memorial Institute.
From the distance the memorial looks clean.
A closer look shows it is not clean
the pointing is damaged.
£2000 for a man to use a high pressure washer is
not a sensitive way to clean the memorial.
The surface of the stone has been damaged
it now feels a looks like coral.
