Relax and enjoy a peaceful and special Christmas or New
Year here at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel. Set in the heart of
Rutland's beautiful countryside, we are located on the
North shore of Rutland Water.
As soon as you cross the threshold you will receive the
warmest of welcomes. We always aim to make Barnsdale
Lodge an extension of your home and you are in the
perfect surroundings to do as much or as little as you like.
Card and board games are always available for having fun
and keeping warm inside, or why not walk off Christmas
lunch around the shores of Rutland Water with your family.
Whatever you choose to do, Christmas and New Year is a
very special time at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel.

Christmas Celebrations

Christmas Eve


A warm welcome reception in the hotel
with mulled wine and Stilton. Christmas
carols in the lounge between 6-7pm.
Dinner will be served between 7–9pm,
please pre-book your table with reception.

Midnight mass will be held in several local
churches. For more information and to prebook
your taxis please ask at reception.
Join us for a warming hot chocolate or
brandy in the early hours of Christmas
morning before you enjoy a peaceful
nights sleep.

Sweet potato and rosemary soup
Potted game, wild mushroom and

Christmas Day

Open your stockings from Santa!
Continental and full English breakfast,
with a glass of bucks fizz, served in the
restaurant from 8–10am.
Morning service in local churches.
Please ask at reception for more
information.
Christmas lunch will be served from
12–2pm, followed by coffee and
liqueurs. Please pre-book your table
with reception.
Traditional tea and Christmas cake will
be served from 4pm in the lounge.
There will be a light buffet served in the
conservatory from 7pm.

Honey roasted parsnip soup

Traditional roast Norfolk turkey served with
all the trimmings, roasting gravy
Roast halibut, saffron mash, purple sprouting broccoli
Seared Gressingham duck breast, dauphinoise potatoes,
Savoy cabbage, glazed carrots
Wild mushroom and potato mille feuille, tarragon
and shallot cream sauce

Classic Christmas pudding, warm brandy sauce

Boxing Day

A traditional English breakfast will be
served in the restaurant from 8–10am.
Enjoy a relaxing morning in the hotel or an
invigorating walk around Rutland Water.
From 12 noon we will be serving soup and
sandwiches, Christmas cake and mince pies
in the hotel.
Time to relax and reflect, maybe watch a
film or read a good book.
Please join us for our cocktail reception
from 7pm.
Dinner will be served from 7–9pm followed
by entertainment in the lounge. Please prebook
your table with reception.

Boxing Day Dinner Menu

Broccoli and Stilton soup
Smoked mackerel pâtê, fresh horseradish

Confit leg of Gressingham duck, new potato
and chorizo ragout

December 27th

A traditional English breakfast will be
served in the hotel from 8–10am.
We will then bid you farewell and wish
you a safe journey home. Our thanks to
you for sharing your Christmas with all
of us at Barnsdale and all the best to
you and your families for a very healthy
and successful 2012.
We look forward to welcoming you
back to Barnsdale Lodge soon.

Christmas Rates

3 nights £440 per person plus £50 per person
for superior rooms. £100 deposit required on
booking. Further £100 per person deposit
required by 1st October 2011.
Why not extend your Christmas stay by either
arriving early or staying a little longer to fully
explore all that Rutland has to offer at an
additional cost of £60 per room per night for
bed and breakfast. Maximum extension 30th
December 2011.
Non-residents wishing to join us for Christmas
Lunch can do so at a charge of £80 per person,
please book early as places are limited.

NEW YEAR Celebrations
30th December

Arrive at your leisure from 2pm onwards and
whether you choose to sit down and relax or
head off for a brisk winter walk by the lake
your New Year celebrations will be off to a
good start. In the evening enjoy the bistro
menu in one of our dining rooms where you
will be entertained by our resident pianist.

New Year’s Eve
Dinner will be served between 7–9pm. Please
pre-book your table with reception. See menu
opposite.
The day begins with a hearty breakfast. How
about a little bit of shopping at the individual
boutique stores locally in Oakham and
Stamford. Then the New Year celebrations go
into full swing with Champagne and canapés
at your table followed by an exquisite six
course meal. Pop outside at 10.30pm for
fireworks followed by dancing into the small
hours with 'The Houndogs'.

New Year’s Day

Happy New Year! For those who need
a lie in, we will extend traditional
breakfast until 10.30am. A chance to
relax and remember those resolutions
– but put them off until tomorrow!

Black tie optional. Carriages from
1.00am. Please ensure that you have
arranged your own transport home if
required on the night.
